Understanding “FIT” notes:

ALL KURU shoes are sold in US sizing. IF the “FIT” note says “1/2 size small”, you should purchase a 1/2 size larger than your normal size (e.g if wear an 8, purchase an 8.5). If the note says “1/2 size big," then purchase a 1/2 size smaller than your normal size.

Common Causes of Heel Pain in Men

Plantar fasciitis is the leading cause of heel pain in the US. Repeated stress on our plantar fascia—or the fibrous tissue that runs the length of the sole of our feet—can lead to pain and inflammation in the heels and arches of the foot.

Achilles tendonitis is a common overuse injury, especially in athletic or active adults. This foot pain condition occurs when the Achilles tendon—which attaches our heel bone to our calf muscle—works beyond its strength, resulting in inflammation of the tendon.

Heel fat pad degradation is especially common in older adults. Our feet have a natural cushioning system—our heel’s fat pad—which helps protect our heel bone from impact. Without the proper footwear support, the heel bone has little protection from hard, unforgiving surfaces, leading to fat pad degradation and…you guessed it: heel pain.

Effective Ways To Reduce Heel Pain

There are a few daily habits men can practice to reduce or prevent chronic heel pain including wearing men's shoes for heel pain designed to provide excellent heel cushioning, arch support and shock-absorption—especially when you’re on your feet all day. Other habits include avoiding walking barefoot on hard surfaces to protect the heel's fat pad and maintaining a regular exercise and foot stretching routine to keep the plantar fascia at its best.
