Phi Theta Kappa

Through a partnership with the Alabama region of Phi

Theta Kappa, we are awarding a $1,000 scholarship to a

two-year community college or technical college student

in all 33 chapters in the Alabama region

The Bama Covered Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship

There are 25 public two-year institutions in Alabama; many have multiples campuses. Students on these campuses personify opportunity; yet for many of them, given demands placed on them by work, family, and school, volunteer work is an unaffordable privilege. Of course, they themselves may be uninsured.

To bolster health outreach across these campuses, we are incredibly excited to announce that a Phi Theta Kappa member in each of the Alabama Region's 33 chapters will be eligibile to receive a $1,000 scholarship. This scholarship will be awarded to the student who devises the top outreach plan for his or her campus.

Chapter advisors will be responsible for interviewing candidates who will present their plan during the interview. The advisors will then choose the students with the top plan for their campus. Selected students will attend a training event in Birmingham on Saturday, January 25, 2013. Training will be provided by Bama Covered at no cost to the student.

The students will receive the first half of the scholarship upon selection, and the second half at the completion of the enrollment period in March 31. Their plan needs to be executed between now and the end of March.

We would be delighted to discuss the scholarship with any advisors or students whether in person or over the phone. They can contact us at To learn more about the Alabama Region of Phi Theta Kappa, visit
